If you are on the hunt for the ultimate Christmas Hamper for friends and family then I have the perfect choice for you. This hamper when I opened the box and started diving in, blew me away. The quality of goodies was exceptional
Our friends at Spicers of Hythe blew me away a few months back by sharing one of their amazing hampers with me. It’s actually one of the very best hampers that I’ve been lucky enough to receive. It was crammed from lid to base! Let’s take a look at what we were treated to in this huge box of delights:
Auntie Frogs Lime and Chilli Dressing
Cocoa Bean Company – Very Berry Chocolates
Franks Shortbread Mini Bites
Lemon Biscuits
Radfords West Country Clotted Cream Fudge
Cocoa Ooze Dark Choc Cinder Toffee
Dormers Chocolate Raisins
Simpsons Hazelnut Dabs
Wooden Spoon Strawberry Extra Jam
Atkins and Potts Milk Chocolate Dipper
Hawkshead Relish Company – Apricot Chutney
Edinburgh Brazilian Coffee
Yorkshire Crisps
Money Bojangles – Rhubarb and Custard
Fosters Spicy Plum Tomato Chutney
Franks Raspberry and White Belgian Choc Butter Bites
The Original Cake Company – Dundee Slab
Ahmad Tea – English Afternoon Tea Bags
Mulled Wine Sachet
Walkers Shortbread Fingers
Farrah Olde English Toffee
Belvoir Cranberry and Raspberry Presse
Lomas Carrera Sauvignon Cabernet
Now can you imagine digging that lovely lot out of a box?
It was such an eclectic mix of things. The Lemon Biscuits were light and crumbly and a perfect addition to a cup of afternoon tea or coffee. If you prefer your biscuits to be a little firmer, then grab the shortbread fingers, or the Shortbread Mini Bites (which come in the cutest little bag) and have a dip.
Andy grabbed the whole bag of the Hazelnut Dabs initially but I wrestled them off him just for the photo and a little nibble. Luscious dark chocolate pools hug a crunchy hazelnut which compliment each other beautifully. I think rather than just grabbing the bag for a chomp, I’d use them on top of a buttercream swirl placed delicately on top of a chocolate and cream sponge for added interest. You could even alternate that with a little square of the clotted cream fudge to add some diversity to it. So many ideas!
If you’re looking for something spectacular then choosing a hamper from Spicers from Hythe is the way to go. I’ve never eaten everything from a hamper before now because some things have not been to my taste. Sometimes you get items in a hamper that just don’t go or that you’ll never ever use but I can honestly say, everything in this one has been demolished. The only things we have left from it is the Mulled Wine Sachet and the bottle of Sauvignon Cabernet because we don’t tend to drink wine but they will be used when Andy’s sister comes up to visit as more her thing than ours, but that’s the only 2 things out of this huge selection. I think the only thing missing from this hamper if I were being super, ultra picky was a small box of crackers. Now we don’t use them either as our dogs don’t like the bangs, so they would have been wasted on us, but being Christmas, I would have thought that could be an option. Again, that’s only me being ultra picky as this hamper and goodies was so incredibly perfect I could not find a single fault with it.
Some of the items which were finished quite quickly in this household have been repurchased (which I think is the whole point of hampers to give you a taster) like the Lime and Chilli Dressing. This was absolutely amazing and can be used in a huge amount of things from a drizzle on open sandwiches, to marinades for roast chicken.
But my absolute favourite out of the whole hamper has to be the Cocoa Ooze Dark Choc Cinder Toffee… I’ve always been totally nuts for cinder toffee (honeycomb) and would often buy a huge bag of it when I came to East Anglia on my holidays but this dark chocolate coated one is simply divine. Not only does it melt in your mouth but the chocolate isn’t too bitter even though it’s dark. It’s so moorish though I had to limit myself as eating too much of it at once would have thrown my diabetes out of kilter. But nothing wrong with a little of what you fancy!
I was so impressed by Spicers of Hythe this year that I’ve changed my allegiance to the regular company that I use for hampers and will be buying them all from them instead. Delivery was super speedy too from notifying me I’d get a surprise to receiving it was about 24 hours too. What more would you want?
If you’re quick too, right now you can grab 15% early bird discount on Christmas Hampers (up until the 13th of November) with the code S15WB2 at the Spicers of Hythe checkout. Don’t even give it a second thought guys and girls, if you want quality and a superb service then look no further – and take the hassle out of present buying.
